When to use germicidal lamps

Therefore, many aquarists will try their best to eliminate chlorella after discovering that the fish tank is green. In this case, the effect of using a germicidal lamp is the best. The germicidal lamp can not only inhibit the reproduction of chlorella, but also kill it, especially at night. Chlorella is particularly active during the day, but at night its various functions When there is a trough, using a germicidal lamp at this time will have a multiplier effect. Use it every night for a few days, and the green water condition will be significantly improved.

Precautions for the use of germicidal lamps

1. The germicidal lamp cannot be placed directly in the fish tank, nor can it be placed with the filter equipment. As it will harm the fish and also kill the nitrifying bacteria in the fish tank. The germicidal lamp is best placed at the water outlet of the fish tank, that is, the water passes through the germicidal lamp before filtering, and then the filter equipment. Our most common one is placed next to the water pump of the bottom filter fish tank, which also has a certain effect. If possible, the germicidal lamp should be equipped with a low-power water pump. Try to let the water in the fish tank pass through the germicidal lamp, so that it can most effectively play its role in sterilization and algae removal.

2. The germicidal lamp does not need to be on 24 hours a day, just use it for about two hours a day. Leaving it on for a long time will have a certain impact on the beneficial bacteria in the aquarium, and will also shorten its lifespan.
